Blessings
I just wanted to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas...Many Blessings ,Wonderful memories and Happy times....I love Christmas and look forward to the many traditions we have in our family. We are going to cut down our tree again this year, decorate the inside and outside of our home , bake goodies, buy a few presents (much fewer than other years) and spend time with friends and family. We had a very holy time on Sunday night with friends and others from our community. We hosted "Soup and Song" at vida e and it was wonderful. People brought crock pots of soup and we all shared a meal together. Some friends played guitar and sang some folk songs and then we all joined in and sang Christmas Carols. Little white lights and candles were placed around the shop to create a serene atmosphere and it was so peaceful. What a wonderful way to begin the season...Dez and I also received some news, Jordan and her boyfreind Barry will be having a baby in August 09. We are rejoicing in the news of another grandchild and so happy they chose life!! We are truly blessed!! Jordan also recommitted her life to Christ and is excited for the new journey she is on.Barry is a great guy and we are so happy to have him in the family!.....So, you now see why I titled this writing Blessings.....Many to you and yours!! Hope in Christ
With the economy the way it is right now and all the wall street mess I've been quite anxious. I watch CNN and CBN and other news shows to see the latest polls on the election and the news on the House and their votes on the bail out, and I begin to get very worried for the future of America. It is such a great reminder of how fragile our economy is and how much we need to keep our eyes on Jesus and not on this world. My hope is in Christ and in Him alone ,so I need not be worried about what tommorrow may bring.I know God is in control and yes, things are going to get very difficult but He will be there for us every step of the way. I pray for wisdom and courage for all believers in these difficult times so we are ready with our lamps full and our armour on~ to be a shining light in the darkness, our hearts full with Love for all~ so we will be able to share the hope and God's love that is within us!! The Lord's Grace be upon us and on America. In Him, Susie

Once Upon A Mattress
This year I "acted" "sang" and "danced" in a play( I'm not very good at any of these ). I had a great time and it challenged me in every way! To say the least I was out of my comfort zone. I played a wench (Lustella) and Princess #12 and yes, I was so scared I would get the worst stomach aches before I went on and I even felt faint on opening night. Kip and Molly "gently"(kidnapped me) pressured me into doing it in the first place and I'm so glad they did because it was such a great experience. The cast was so fun to be with and we had a blast on stage!!We sold out nearly every performance and the audiences really loved it. This brought me back to my high school days at Cypress and Saguaro High.... Definitely do it again!!
Desmond " Dezi" Baker District 4 councilman
I just want to say a few words about my hubby Dezi. He ran for city council this year and won a seat and I am so proud of him!!! God has brought him such a long way in his life and God gets all the glory. We all have high hopes for our little city and know it can be a better community, it is good but it can be great! We have found a home here and many wonderful lifelong friends who, like us, believe that Globe can be polished and improved. So anyway, those are some of the many reasons why Dezi wanted to run for council and so far things are going very well. Meetings are 6pm Monday evenings, stop in at the city Municipal Bld. and put in your two cents.

Summer for the Baker's
Our family did not officially take a vacation this summer but it has been nice anyway!! We took a trip to the Colo. river with the entire extended family and had a very fun time, floating down the river , tubing behind the boat and just relaxing with the kids and when I say kids I mean LOTS of kids!!! 27 on that trip but we were missing a quite a few also. Dezi and I took a couple of short overnight trips to have some" alone " time and we went(with kids too) to the White Mts. for a short getaway with the Rosbrooks. Hawley Lake was beautiful and the drive is breathtaking!! Eden had a great time at camp Tatiyee in Lakeside, (a camp for kids with special needs)and she turned 15 while she was there. Lyndon had a chance to camp with Jensen and he turned 13 this summer. Nathan worked all summer and didn't get to go away much but, hey life is good because he is on his own now!! He moved out right before his graduation and his 19th birthday and seems to love the freedom( pray for me!!)He lives with his friend Jaymen and is working as a security guard at the mine entrance gate. ~~ I'm posting some pictures of the Willy Wonka Play eden and lyndon were in this summer, very fun but this is also why we didn't go away for any length of time. Enjoy!!! Bye for now~~Susie
